I am always fascinated by how different each and every person is from another. What might bother or annoy me humors another. What might seem beautiful to me is harmful to another's eyes.
So ... what are my idiosyncrasies?
On the frugal side would be my make-up. I have had the same powder for almost 3 years and it was actually given to me by someone. The lid of the powder container cracked, so I put the container in a zip-lock bag. My lip-liner is also about 2 years old and I just used up 1 of the 2 eye-brow pencils that I have ... never mind the fact that I sharpened that pencil down to it's last bit of usefulness. Make-up just isn't that important to me.
But, I am a shoe snob. This has come and gone in waves. I went from best dressed in High School to only wearing professional garb for my corporate job when I first got married. I didn't care what my pumps looked like, as long as they were cheap! But post-kids my love-of-shoes is returning. Still, I try to find the best brands at the best price. But I don't just want to buy the cheapest shoe anymore, especially since I want the pair of shoes to last a few years (or more). And this requires me to dish out a few more bucks than normal. I care about my shoes!
So, those are some of my funks ... care to share yours?

Well, I guess you know I'm frugal about sippy cups! : ) I still have some from when Amber was a baby. (Playtex is the BEST brand!)
I'm also frugal when it comes to clothes and shoes for my whole family. We all use hand-me-downs. I get great clothes and shoes from my friend, Rhonda. Amber gets great hand-me-downs from Ily and Autumn gets Amber's used clothes. I buy Eric's clothes at garage sales and thrift stores. I am not exaggerating when I say we spend about $150 total on clothes and shoes each year.
Let's see...I like to spend money on scrapbooking supplies. I love to have the latest from Creative Memories, even if I won't be using it in a scrapbook for years. I also love specialty coffee drinks, even if they cost a lot more than the ingredients to make them at home. (I like making them at home, too!)
So, there you have it!
Uh, I don't have any funks. Just kidding, I probably have a million... let's ask Billy (okay, maybe not!).
Gee, I think I'm frugal when it comes to... umm, still thinkin' 'bout that one. I'll just put it out there... I like the best. You get whatcha' pay for is what I've always heard and that's what I'm stickin' to! Whenever I try to get something cheaper it always ends up costing me more, whether I wind up hating the product and search for another one or whatever. I always learn that I should've just chosen what I know I liked in the first place, even if it's $5 more than the cheap version.
A friend of my sister was going to quit buying her favorite foundation that she'd used for years so that she could cut back on her budget. My sister asked her if it was really worth it? Spending money on trying to find a decent store brand (that you can't try on in the store) till you get one that matches. Then my sis figured out how much it would cost for her, a worn out momma of 4, to keep using the same, tried and true foundation, that just makes her "feel" better. It was like 30 cents a day! Well worth it in my opinion!
Okay, well, that was longer that I meant. Woops.
I am still thinking about this blog. I like to use coupons. But I can't think of a specific area where I am truly frugal. Glenn would definitely be able to tell me. But I completely understand what Gina is saying. At times I used to run around to different stores and buy and then return to get the best price but now with two kids and the price of gas, I figure my time is worth the extra $5 I spent on whatever it is.
I do like to splurge on scrapbooking things and tend to buy before I know I am using it. I think I might be more in the middle I can't buy anything unless it is on sale but I like the name brand item. I will get back to you though if I ever come up with something.
I'm a fabric snob. I'll pay up to $8 a yard for good quilt fabric.
But I only buy clothes on super-markdown end-of-the-season clearance. Seems kind of hypocritical now that I think about it. :)
