Whatever Works

So I have to confess that I think about cleaning our bathroom a whole lot more than any cleaning actually occurs. Usually I wait until I absolutely can't stand it anymore and then I dive in and an hour or so later a clean bathroom emerges. As I was in our dirty bathroom the other night I had just enough time to clear the clutter off the counter and wipe it off with a wet washcloth. Not disinfected, I know, but it looked better. But then I thought, what if I invested in some of those disinfecting/cleaning wipes so that when I get a free moment I could just wipe down the counters, sink, etc.? Genius! I know it's not the traditional way of cleaning, and it's not the cheapest, but I actually think the bathrooms will stay cleaner this way. So, the wipes work for me, what works for you?

I LOVE those wipes. They are kind of addicting, though. The flushable ones are great to keep in the bathroom too, cuz you can wipe all the dust off the toilet while you're at it...I have the same problem...But, sometimes a wet washcloth is actually just as good...I heard about Oprah doing a show saying that cleaners can actually be harmful. So, yeah, who knows...it smells so good though (the cleaner).

I love those wipes too. Especially with so many boys in the house, the toilets always need to be wiped.

I have those wipes and do use them for when in a pinch. They stay under both the bathroom and kitchen sinks. I would prefer to not use harmful chemicals and a reusable washcloth but that isn't how it always works in my house. Oh well. That is just not my time of life.

I like the wipes, too, but some brands dry out quicker than you can use them.

My trick is to wash the bathroom every few weeks thoroughly while the girls are taking a bath. They love being in the tub for a long time, and I have to be in there with them, so why not clean as I wait. I have found this to be a great tip to keeping the bathroom clean (but right now it's dirty!)

I will second cleaning the bathroom during bath time... not that I actually do it that often! The bathroom is actually my goal for the day. Yeah, I have small goals!

That is so gross! I clean my bathroom twice a day.... NOT!!! Really though, I remember hearing something before about cleaning, that anything is better than nothing. That goes a long way for my OCD and my tendency to be a perfectionist, too. It doesn't have to be perfect, just do something! BTW, I'm preachin' to myself here!

I sooooooo know what you mean. The wipes kept me going for a month straight once, and my bathroom smelled so nice all the time. But good habits die quickly, when it comes to me and cleaning. I guess we're all figuring it out as we go. Oh, and flylady.net always says that a washcloth and a little shampoo every day is all you need to keep the bathroom sparkly. But that's if you can keep up with the laundry all the time, and wash said washcloths. Which I don't. Currently. I guess I have a new agenda for tomorrow morning now. :)

Oh man, I love flylady.net! I've learned a lot from her. I hate having "CHAOS: Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome". I haven't followed it completely recently, but she really has some great ideas on her website that really make sense and help with all that. It's an awesome website, all us busy moms should check out.
