Things we use ...

So last night I was putting the dishes away and, well, you know when you try to squeeze those everyday-use serving utensils back into the utensils drawer and inevitably SOMETHING is stuck in the back of the drawer, preventing it from closing? And I say SOMETHING because you haven't looked in the back of the drawer for um ... let's just say 5 years and so you really don't know what useful items might be back there -- clogging up the drawer mechanics. SO ... I proceeded to empty and empty and empty that little drawer and Oh My Gosh! I filled an entire grocery bag worth of unused utensils ... pie servers (?), a baster, a boiled egg slicer ... hahaha, I just have to laugh thinking about it. Okay -- so what is in the drawer now? Everthing that I do in fact use: 2 spatuals, 2 wooden spoons, wine bottle opener (!), salad tongs and 2 can openers. Back to the basics.

And I would offer all of you lovely ladies all of my unused utensils but I would be embarrassed to pass them on ... but if anyone needs a hard boiled egg slicer -- you let me know : )

Okay, just so you know, we LOVE strawberries in our house, and I use the egg slicer ALL THE TIME for the strawberries. It makes them into perfect little slices. : )
I'm either trying to help you get rid of it or just confusing you in thinking maybe you should keep it. I don't know which....

Believe it or not, I would LOVE the egg slicer for our strawberries. I have a good Pamp. Chef one but the wires got bent last month when I sliced a HUGE strawberry (Yes, I knew I shouldn't have done that). So, ours still works, but it gets stuck a lot. And we use it a lot for strawberries. So, if Gina and I have not convinced you to keep it, then I'll take it. But if you want to keep it now for strawberries, by all means have fun with it!

Isn't cleaning out drawers fun? At least I think so. My mother-in-law told me today that she cleaned out just about every drawer in her house yesterday and got rid of 6 bags of "junk." It must be Spring Cleaning time. (But I do it all year long, not just in the spring).

Hmmm, never thought of owning an egg slicer. Strawberries get inhaled at this house before I could think twice about making them cute, lol! Hardboiled eggs disappear almost just as fast, come to think of it.

Things I use: cast iron pan, stick blender, my favorite (and only!) potato masher, toaster oven, and a pizza slicer- used for pizzas, quesadillas, and sandwiches! I use more :) but those are some of my favorites.

Enjoy your clean drawer!

I have never though of the egg slicer for cutting strawberries! Brilliant! But I will pass it on to you Christine since you would use it so often ... and I think I actually enjoy cutting strawberries - - I know, odd.

Anyone interested in a garlic press? I bought it a while ago and to be completely honest, I just buy the crushed garlic at TJ's and call it a day! So, I think it's been used all of once -- it's Kitchen Aid - Red.

I have two garlic presses. Thanks anyway. Hey, if you want to keep the egg slicer, by all means, please keep it. You might have fun slicing strawberries. They're good for other things, too. Kiwi, butter pats, oh there are a few more things too. So please keep it if you'll use it.

My most used kitchen utensils... I've gotta confess, I'm still pretty much stuck in my bachelor ways. I do just about everything with a butter knife. I think I'd loose one of the can openers and add a good pair of kitchen shears.

OK, I have two drawers that I can't get passed halfway open so you have to dig around the back, be careful of the knife, and try to unstick whatever is jammed, because whatever I need is usually in the backhalf, oh and be careful of the knife.

What I can't live without...Kitchen shears, good metal williams sonoma measing cups, and spoons, pampered chef little square plastic scraper, wooden spatulas, tongs, and my two ginsu knives....still sharp unlike my good knives which are dull as a box of rocks.

OK, I only buy two of what I need for the kids, two sippy cups, two spoons, one bib....That way I always know what's accounted for.

I'm going to go clean out a drawer right now.
